Hockley County Release Date Terms
TDCJ uses several dates for different stages. Its Projected Release Date is calculated by the Classification and Records Office. It estimates when a state prisoner may leave incarceration if parole does not occur sooner. It is not a promise, a parole grant, or proof that release took place. The TDCJ definitions explain that offense date, offense type, time credits, mandatory-supervision eligibility, and Board decisions can affect the calculation.
A Scheduled Release Date and Scheduled Release Location appear after release processing reaches the scheduling stage. TDCJ warns that the scheduled date can change without notice, even on that day. If these fields are absent, TDCJ says the person has not yet been scheduled. An actual release must still be confirmed after the expected event. Discharge is later still: it means the whole sentence or supervision term has ended.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Parole eligibility date | The case may be considered; release is not ordered. |
| Projected Release Date | A calculated prison exit estimate under applicable rules. |
| Board vote | An approval, denial, or conditional decision. |
| Scheduled Release Date | Operational planning after processing, still subject to change. |
| Actual release | The person physically left that custody system. |
| Discharge Date | The sentence or supervision term ended. |
Check Hockley County Projected Release
The correct route begins with custody type. The TDCJ Online Inmate Search applies to a person committed to state prison. It is not a Hockley County booking archive. Someone who bonded out, completed a county sentence, or had a local charge dismissed may never appear there. Conversely, a person missing from the county roster may have transferred into TDCJ and may not be free in the community.
Use a TDCJ or SID number for the strongest match. A name search should be checked against date of birth and other identifiers. Then open the detail record and read the current location before recording any date. For a county-jail term, ask the Hockley County Jail or the court that imposed the sentence. The live roster gives arrest and current-custody data, not a projected-date calculation.
- Determine whether the person is in Hockley County Jail, TDCJ custody, another state, or a federal system.
- For TDCJ, search by TDCJ or SID number, or use the exact name and birth date.
- Open the matching detail record and verify the current unit and offense information.
- Record Projected Release Date, parole eligibility, and any scheduled date as separate fields.
- Check for a Board decision, required program, or release-plan condition.
- After the expected date, confirm actual release or supervision through TDCJ or the assigned parole office.
The TDCJ Inmate Information gateway displays the official search and alternative contact routes.
The captured gateway helps keep a state-prison date search separate from the county jail’s current roster.
Hockley County Pretrial Release Dates
A person awaiting trial at Hockley County Jail generally has no computed TDCJ projected date. Release may depend on a posted bond, a court order, dismissal, time already served, a hold, or transfer. A bond amount on the roster is not proof that the bond was posted or accepted. Likewise, a signed order can authorize release while the jail record shows when it was carried out.
For a local sentence, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 42.032 permits a sheriff to grant county-jail commutation for good conduct, industry, and obedience, subject to forfeiture and statutory limits. The sheriff’s records and policy govern its application. Do not apply a TDCJ projected date or state-prison credit formula to the Hockley County Jail.
Call the jail at 806-894-9334 with the full name and arrest or booking date. When documentary proof is needed, request the final release sheet through Hockley County’s public-information channel. The county record should distinguish a community release from a transfer to TDCJ, another jail, or federal authority.
Texas Good Time Calculations
Texas Government Code Chapter 498 governs TDCJ good-conduct time. The credit rewards good conduct and participation in certain programs. It may affect classification, parole eligibility in applicable cases, and mandatory-supervision calculations. It does not erase part of the court’s sentence or guarantee release on a chosen date.
Government Code Section 508.147 states the basic mandatory-supervision equation for eligible cases: actual calendar time plus accrued good-conduct time equals the sentence. Section 508.149 then excludes named categories and supplies the discretionary review framework. Offense date matters. For an eligible offense before the later statutory change, the projected date may track the mandatory-supervision date. In later eligible cases, a Board decision can move the calculation. If discretionary mandatory supervision is denied, TDCJ may recalculate the projected date to maximum expiration.
There is no general Texas rule requiring every TDCJ prisoner to serve about 85 percent of the sentence. Texas instead uses offense-specific parole rules and mandatory-supervision exclusions in Government Code Chapter 508. Some categories require actual calendar time without good time, while other cases use different eligibility tests. Eligibility permits review. It does not command release.
Note: Two equal sentence lengths can yield different dates because offense dates, convictions, eligibility, credits, and Board decisions may differ.
Hockley County Dates Can Change
A projected or scheduled date changes when the facts used in the calculation or release process change. TDCJ may audit sentence records after a release certificate arrives. The Board may require a program or later review. A release plan may also need an approved residence. These steps explain why an approval and a physical departure need not occur together.
| Factor | Possible effect | Best verification |
|---|---|---|
| Good-time accrual or forfeiture | Changes an eligible calculation | TDCJ Classification and Records data |
| Board approval or denial | Can advance or recalculate the projected date | BPP status and offender detail |
| Required program | Release may wait for successful completion | TDCJ release processing |
| Residence or release plan | Scheduling may wait for approval | Parole Division status line |
| Detainer or consecutive term | May prevent community release or alter processing | Receiving agency and sentence record |
| Records audit or court action | May correct the date or sentence calculation | TDCJ record and signed court order |
TDCJ’s parole FAQ describes an ordinary records-audit and scheduling estimate of roughly 14 to 21 business days after Classification and Records receives a release certificate in the stated setting. It also describes about four to six weeks after a required program is completed when a residence is approved. These are agency estimates, not deadlines or promises.
Confirm Hockley County Release Dates
When the online result is missing or unclear, TDCJ provides phone and email access. Telephone information is available during its listed weekday hours. The Huntsville locator numbers are 936-295-6371 and 800-535-0283. Before a parole approval vote, use the Board status line at 844-512-0461. After approval, the Parole Division release-status line is 512-406-5202.
Email requests go to pia@tdcj.texas.gov. TDCJ asks for the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. Without that number, provide exact date of birth, or approximate age and county of conviction. The official email instructions say that this listed information service is free and can return the projected release date along with identity, location, conviction, and incarceration information.
For a pending custody event, the VINELink Inmate Search page explains Texas’s current IVSS notification routes. A notification is a useful prompt to verify the event. Read the event label carefully, since a transfer to another authority is not the same as community release.
Document Hockley County Actual Release
After the expected date passes, seek the record of what happened. For TDCJ, that may be later status information, parole placement, a release certificate, or an actual discharge record. A Scheduled Release Date alone remains prospective because the agency says it can change. For Hockley County Jail, the final booking and release sheet is the direct record of the local custody end.
A narrow county request can ask for actual release date and time, release type, releasing authority, bond disposition, and receiving destination if transferred. Ask for existing records tied to a specific booking. The court judgment or order adds the legal basis, while the jail log supplies the physical release time. Those records answer related but distinct questions.
Identity checks remain vital. A common name or incomplete birth date can attach the wrong projected date to a person. Keep the TDCJ number, SID, case number, booking date, court, and facility with each record used. Note when each source was checked, since a later audit or release step may change the displayed information.
